Jade Dungeon Guards

Midas: So, you wouldent happen to remember how they got you in here do you?

Aboleth: “There is a water passage that connects to this place from the underdark. They trapped me after I swam through it, and locked me in this place.”
Ignatius: Hm, well that’s not going to be a viable exit strategy for us.

  • Ignatius starts poking unconcious mage with his staff.

Aboleth: “From what I gathered from their minds, they are using this place to force energy from the farplane into the minds and bodies of the creatures they capture. They are able to enter and exit by speaking the word ‘Karavakos’ at a hidden panel in a round room.”
Ignatius: Oh, you are my favorite fish in the entire world right now.

Aboleth: “I do not know whence it is from here, but the image of it appears to be in this place.”
Ignatius: Thank you. Is there any way we might be of assistance in aiding your escape from this place?

Midas: Do you know where the lock is so we can set you free?

Aboleth: “There are guards who patrol the halls. And creatures that guard the passage to the Underdark, If you will follow me, and aid me, I might be able to escape.”

  • Ignatius keeps proding mage *poke poke(
Ignatius: Unfortunately I am not entirely certain we can survive under water.

Aldis: yes, drowning and all

Aldis: ah

Aboleth: “The creatures are not in the passage, but guarding the entrance to it.”
Tyrile: “Without outside help, I can definitely NOT breath water and survive”
Ignatius: ah, I see
Ignatius: well I’m sure we can handle them… it’s the least we can do for you seeing as you’ve handed us our means of escape.
Ignatius: or… finned us… I suppose

Aboleth: “I thank you.”
Ignatius: we do have a matter we need to discuss with these unconscious mages though.

  • Ignatius still prodding poke poke poke
  • Ignatius smack
Ignatius: “Wow these fellows are really out.”
  • Mage 1 stirs weakly.

Aldis: You know ignatius, hitting them isn’t going to help…

Aldis: rolls a 9 for a total of 23 on his heal check.
Ignatius: Well mine is waking up

Mage 1: ’’
Ignatius: “You, my friend, are going to tell me everything you know.”

Mage 1: “…”

Aldis: … or we’ll feed you to the fish.

Aldis: rolls a 7 for a total of 17 on his intimidate check.
Ignatius: Indeed, he seems hungry.

Mage 1: “You are ignorant of worse fates that would befall me were I to betray my order.”
Ignatius: You think so?
Ignatius: I’m really, really good with fire.

Mage 1: “You realize that the Jade Tower extends to the shadowfell? What would the Elders do when my soul reached them I wonder.”
Ignatius: We can help you find out… I mean honestly, we only left you alive for information, no other reason.
Ignatius: I’m assuming the elders will have plenty of… interesting things planned for anybody that has failed them as you have.

Mage 1: “I will tell you what you want to know, in exchange for my life.”

Mage 1: “Or I will take my secrets to my grave.”
Ignatius: We will let you live.

Mage 1: “What do you want to know?”
Ignatius: If your information proves useful.
Ignatius: Who is… in charge… as it were?

Mage 1: “Well… I report to Barthus, who reports to Dajani, who reports to Alara, who reports to the Elders.”

Aldis: Alara or Agera?

Mage 1: “Alara is Agera, or at least she is pretending to be. The real Agera was imprisoned.”

Aldis: I see… where is the real Agera imprisoned?

Mage 1: “I honestly do not know, she may have already been killed. Alara was only keeping her alive for information.”
Ignatius: This Alara… how skilled is she?

Mage 1: “She was able to subdue the headmistress of a national mages’ guild.”

Mage 1: “She is very skilled.”

Mage 1: “She is very powerful.”

Aldis: I see.
Ignatius: Hm, so, we may not want to charge this head on then.

Cian: Rolls a 8 for a total of 19 on his insight check.

Ignatius: rolls a 11 for a total of 19 on his Insight check.

Aldis: rolls a 3 for a total of 15 on his Insight check.
James: You can tell that there seems to be a tone of desperate truth to his words. He wants most of all for you to leave him alone to make his escape, and is telling you what he knows.

Aldis: Where is the portal room

Mage 1: “I know that she seeks to release Karavakos, and unleash an army upon the realms to forge a new world under the rule of the Elders, each of which will unlock the secrets of the gods. That is her plan.”

Aldis: We got that already, thanks.

Mage 1: “The portal room is on the other side of the engine, to the North.”

Aldis: What is the engine?

Mage 1: “This whole complex is a gigantic arcane engine. Funneling energies to and from the far plane.”

Aldis: How would we disable it?

Mage 1: “Every soul that enters this place without a body is used to power it, so that it can open up a gateway to the Far realm.”

Aldis: Hrm… I presume that also means upon death

Tyrile: “So…take lots of hostages?”

Midas: Wait this whole building is an engine, that is fueled by souls…this place is getting worse and worse all the time

Mage 1: “You’d have to destroy the crystaline key. It’s in the North Tower, all of the energy that enters this place is funneled there for use in Alara’s rituals.”

Mage 1: “Dajani is the one who is in charge of collecting souls for use. There has been much innocent blood shed in Fostern this night.”

Aldis: Her sister.

Mage 1: “Yes. She enchants weapons which extract the souls from their victims.”

  • Aldis aldis makes the quotes

Ignatius: Ok well, we may not be able to confront Alara head on, but we can wreak as much havoc as possible down here on our way out.

Aldis: cut off the source of her power and destroy her work

Aldis: I could settle with that for now

Mage 1: “Good luck not facing her if you’re going to do that. She’ll get her hands dirty.”

  • Ignatius pulls out rope and begins binding the mages hands

Aldis: Then we’ll kill her.

Aboleth: “Do you have the informaiton you seek?”

Aldis: Yes, thank you for being patient

Mage 1: “Hey! You said you would let me go if I told you what you wanted!”

Ignatius: Inquisitor… I am assuming you will be wanting to take this guy into custody

Ignatius: I said I would let you live

Ignatius: Not let you go.

Inquisitor Tyrildottir: “Indeed, but that means keeping him alive with us if we can.”

Midas: Knocks out the mage

Aboleth: “It is this way.”

Aboleth: “Hold.”

Midas: can any other of these creatures be saved?

Aboleth: “There are guards around this corner, and a creature they are trying to capture.”

Aboleth: “I do not know.”

Aldis: What kind of creature?

Aboleth: “A worm.”

Splug: Uses a healing surge.
